Welcome

With mixed emotions we have poured the last cup of tea, served the last of our gourmet petites and the gates at Amarlou have closed for the final time.

We made a spur of the moment decision to try our luck on the property market , and we sold.

The new owners have decided not to continue with the business.

Mark, Trent, Josh and myself have loved welcoming each and everyone of you to our gorgeous homestead. We hope you will carry special memories of a beautiful High Tea in the Garden.

At present all social media is closed. I will open it up in the coming weeks and keep you updated. At this stage there are no future plans for High Teas.

Sending love and wishes to each and every one of you. I will miss you all dearly. You never know, our paths may cross again one day.

Lots of love, Lou xx

Welcome to Amarlou

Set amongst manicured gardens and expansive lawns, Amarlou Homestead is the idyllic location for your special occasion.  Picturesque and tranquil, it has an ambience all of its own. The rustic charm of majestic gum trees and farmyards, combined with with the elegance and seclusion of a private rose garden, make it the perfect setting for a beautiful celebration. Whether it's arriving in a horse-drawn carriage, serving drinks to your guests from our vintage caravan or enjoying one of our sumptuous high teas in the garden; whatever your heart desires, we can make it happen.

The steps of our grassed terrace or under the rose arbor in the lower garden are perfect locations for High Tea. There are many photo opportunities to take advantage of around the grounds while your guests mingle amongst the roses!  We can also arrange your private event for you, either in a private marquee or under the trees. We offer a delicious cocktail or afternoon tea menu or, if you would prefer something else, we are happy to liaise with you to accommodate your wishes. Alcohol is BYO and we have bar staff available if required.

If you are dreaming of a beautiful country-style venue for a boutique-style  event, Amarlou Homestead is the perfect choice. We look forward to meeting you soon.

Our Story

Amarlou started as a dream about 22 years ago, with an established catering business, but no venue. We had always wanted to escape the 'burbs' and own a property with a beautiful garden, fruit trees and a vegetable patch.  After 3 years of searching, we eventually found our acreage and the many years of hard work began!

We needed a name and one night, over a few too many Long Island iced teas, Amarlou Homestead was born. It's simply a mix of our names: Mark and Louise.

Fast forward 19 years, after adding two children, sheep, chickens and dogs into the mix, here we are today.  We love sharing all that Amarlou has to offer: the birds, butterflies, perfumed roses and a truly memorable experience. There is a gorgeous show of flowers throughout the spring and summer and a breathtaking display of autumn colour as the weather becomes cooler. Even in the winter, when the bones of the garden are exposed, it is still stunning as the perennial bulbs poke their heads through the soil and bring life to the garden under the deciduous trees. It's a garden that can be enjoyed any time of year.

While gardening is a passion for both of us, cooking is another of mine (Mark prefers to eat it). Petite, bite-size morsels of pure delight are my specialty. My passion for cooking began as a child, helping my Nanna and Garn in the kitchen. Nan was more of a baker, while Garn loved to cook the savoury lines. Some of their recipes I still use today and some I have adapted. Over 30 years as a pastry chef has enabled me to create beautiful food to serve in our garden. I use as much of our own produce, fresh from the farm, as possible to prepare delicious, seasonal menus. What we can't provide ourselves, we source from local suppliers.

Amarlou is our dream come true, created from 19 years of hard work, blisters, sunburn, happiness, tears and a lot of rose thorns in the fingers! Mark and I very much look forward to welcoming you and your guests to our little piece of paradise and we encourage you to kick back, relax and enjoy the experience.

What they said....

Perth Horse and Carriage had the pleasure of working with Amarlou Homestead for a very special birthday girl. They went above and beyond expectations for the fairy princess inspired theme and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Lara, Perth Horse and Carriage

We all absolutely loved yesterday. The food, the gardens, the set up, the service was all exquisite.  Thank you for having us and I'm sure there will be plenty of returning.   Holly was so happy and everyone commented on how special it was.

Thank you so very much for hosting we four on Sunday to a beautiful high tea.  All parts were so enjoyable, your food perfect, surrounds very accommodating and relaxing.. sorry we overstayed the 2 hrs!  Congratulations to you and Mark on your beautiful property and best wishes for the success of your new business.

What a lovely time we had.  I would never have thought of going around the back roads of Baldivis to find such a gem.  The high tea was the best ever.. so scrumptious!  My taste buds came alive once more!  The venue was so peaceful and relaxing.  The meal was so well presented and the taste was something to die for.  Courses were generously spaced out allowing our conversation to fill the gaps.  It was all so lovely and I know how much work must have also gone into the gardens and landscaping.  The two Austin trucks were quite intriguing and I noticed the textured paper for the menu, excellent choice and taste.  A wonderful and unique experience, thank you so much!

Thank you for the most delicious and memorable afternoon tea Louise.  I wanted to spoil my dear friend for all she has done for me and the experience was everything I hoped it would be and more!   Even the inclement weather didn't rain on our parade as tea in the piano room was simply perfect!  Thank you also for organising a special gluten free menu for me, it was so wonderful to be able to enjoy all your delights without missing out on certain items.  A thoroughly delicious experience in so many ways!

Beautiful welcome from our host. The gardens are to die for... So peaceful and relaxing. Food was absolutely amazing not to mention the pots of tea and cheeky glass of champagne. Will definitely be back and recommending this lovely business to family and friends. Thank you
